Villa Berla / Lombardy, Italy
A beautifully refurbished 16th-century baroque-style holiday villa near Milan, that never fails to impress with its beautiful frescoes and carefuly curated furniture collection.
Located just an hour away from Milan near the beautiful town of Azzate by Lake Varese, is Villa Berla. This 16th-century Lombardy manse has fully been restored to its original glory and gives guests the opportunity to experience Baroque architecture like never before. With colorful frescoes in every room and interiors taken from another era, this holiday home is transportive like no other.
The owners recruited the help of DOM’s Creative Director Marta Nowicka and architect Enrico Caminoli to restore the property, who focused on bringing out the original character and highlighting unique period details, such as the windows, fireplaces, floors, and ceilings as well the beautiful courtyard and garden. The rooms have been reorganized and restyled to fit the needs of a contemporary lifestyle, thereby creating a blend of styles and identities that is unique to the location. The villa is divided into two areas, the main house and a smaller secondary apartment which are both available for rent together or separately. The living, dining, and kitchen area are organized around a central courtyard where guests can enjoy a day in the sun or a family-style meal on the tiled patio.
